Balmiki Ji Ramayana Story Hanuman Ji

Hanuman Ji’s Sacrifice and Devotion – The Ramayana Written on the Himalayas ||

हनुमान जी का त्याग और भक्तिहिमालय पर लिखी रामायण

Hanuman ji always chanted the holy name of Lord Ram — “Ram, Ram, Ram.”

It is said that one who truly does Naam Jap with complete devotion, even if they fall deep into darkness or difficulties, God Himself protects and uplifts them.

Once, Maharishi Balmiki ji developed pride after completing the writing of the Ramayana. He began to feel that no one else could write a kavya (divine poetry) greater than his.

With this thought in mind, Balmiki ji first went to Lord Hari Narayana and then to Lord Shiva in Brahm Lok to show them his Ramayana. There, he came to know that another Ramayana had also been written — not by any scholar, but by Hanuman ji himself.

He was then guided towards the Himalayas, where Hanuman ji had written the Ramayana on the mountains using his own nails.

When Balmiki ji reached there and began reading Hanuman ji’s Ramayana, tears filled his eyes. The depth of devotion, wisdom, and love for Lord Ram written in those words was beyond imagination.

After reading it, Balmiki ji humbly said to Hanuman ji:

“I used to think that the Peotry written by me was the greatest, but after reading your Ramayana, mine feels faded before it. The Ramayana written by you is far greater than mine.”

Hearing this, Hanuman ji immediately replied:

“No, Balmiki ji, it is not like that. My Ramayana is not greater.”

Then, to Balmiki ji’s shock, Hanuman ji broke the mountain on which the Ramayana was written and threw the pieces into the river.

Seeing this, Balmiki ji said with pain:

“Hanuman ji, what have you done? Such a beautiful Ramayana should have reached every home. Humanity would have benefited from your divine writing.”

Hanuman ji folded his hands and replied:

“Balmiki ji, your Ramayana is the greatest. It is your Ramayana that should reach the people.”

This moment revealed the true qualities of Hanuman ji — sacrifice, humility, and complete devotion towards Lord Ram and His devotees.
Even after creating something so divine, Hanuman ji had no pride in it. Instead, he chose to honor another devotee of Lord Ram.

With tears in his eyes, Balmiki ji then said:

“The Ramayana written by you would have greatly benefited the people of Kalyug.”

Hanuman ji then replied:

“When Kalyug arrives, you will take birth again as Tulsidas ji.”

And later, it is believed that Balmiki ji indeed took birth again as Goswami Tulsidas ji and wrote the sacred Ramcharitmanas for the people of Kalyug.
